Safeguarding Young People in the Outdoors

This CPD-certified course is designed to give you an understanding of your role in protecting children from abuse or harm and what to do when concerns arise. It focusses particularly on the scenarios you could encounter whilst delivering outdoor or adventurous activities, both at a centre or out in the great outdoors.
Whether you’re a climbing coach, sailing instructor, DofE supervisor or multi-activity centre instructor, it’s important you understand your role and responsibilities in protecting the children you work with.
This course firstly covers the basics of defining safeguarding, your legal responsibilities in UK law, and how to handle concerns. It then goes on to discuss a number of scenarios unique to the outdoor education world, and how to handle those.
