Fire Safety Awareness for the Outdoor Industry
This course introduces learners to the basics of Fire Safety at work, with a particular focus on the outdoor education industry.
Knowing how to respond to an unintended fire in the workplace is an essential aspect of safety for everyone. This course gives a basic understanding of how unintended fires can start at work, how fire behaves, and crucially how to respond in terms of raising the alarm, helping others to a place of safety, and how to use a fire extinguisher should it be safe to do so.
The course differs from other fire safety awareness courses on the market because it is designed around the requirements of working in an outdoor education setting. This includes references to procedures around evacuating young people from residential accommodation, and the role of Centre staff in evacuation.
