Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Awareness

Every outdoor leader has the power to shape someone's experience. Whether you're leading climbing sessions, delivering paddlesports, supporting Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, or working with groups in the outdoors, the way people feel when they take part matters.

This practical introductory course will help you build the confidence to create environments where everyone feels welcome, respected and able to participate. You'll explore the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and discover how small, everyday actions can have a lasting impact on participants, colleagues and volunteers.

You'll learn why EDI matters in outdoor settings, recognise the barriers some people may face, reflect on your own approach, and develop practical strategies to make your sessions more inclusive.

By the end of the course, you'll have a stronger understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion, greater awareness of the diverse needs of the people you work with, and the confidence to help everyone feel they belong.
